Claudio Graziano, the former Italian Army general who served as Chairman of the European Union Military Committee, passed away on June 17, 2024, in Rome. He was 70 years old.

Graziano was born in Turin, Italy on November 22, 1953. He graduated from the Italian Military Academy in Modena and began his military career in 1974.

Graziano held numerous high-ranking positions throughout his career, including Chief of Staff of the Italian Army from 2011 to 2015 and Chairman of the European Union Military Committee from 2018 to 2021.

After his retirement from the military, Graziano became the chairman of Italian state-controlled shipbuilder Fincantieri in 2022.
